When lumber is in contact with concrete or soil it must be treated to meet building codes. Bottom plates on basement walls and the mud plate on basement foundations, crawl spaces or concrete slabs needs to be built with treated lumber. If you see a deck on the standard plan it is included and priced as treated. Options available.
