It takes approximately the same amount of time as a standard home. It takes about

• 3-4 months to build a 1,400 - 1,800 square foot home
• 5-6 months for a 1,800 - 2,100 square foot home
• 6-9 months for a 2,200 - 3,200 square foot home.

So, basically, it depends on how large of a crew your builder has and how difficult the house is to build, etc.

Let's say your builder tells you it will take 4 months to build your new log home. Tell him you will give him 5 months, but after 5 months he owes you $100 per day. This is a good way to protect yourself so the builder doesn't take on more jobs while letting yours sit. Have him put it in his contract.
