Smoky Mountain Floor Plan

The Smoky Mountain is one of the most celebrated luxury log cabin home plans in Golden Eagle's history, a ranch style masterwork of such enduring popularity and profound architectural character that it was originally featured on HGTV and has since inspired generations of homeowners across the United States and Canada to pursue their most personal vision of what a luxury mountain home floor plan can truly be. Set atop a commanding Tennessee mountain in the heart of the Great Smoky Mountains with over 100 acres of privately owned property surrounding it, the real world expression of this extraordinary plan sleeps up to ten guests in over 5,000 square feet of full log craftsmanship, where authentic mortise and tenon timber trusses span 24 feet across the great room without a single mechanical fastener, and the dense full log walls are so acoustically insulated that a raging mountain storm outside cannot be heard within.

The great room is an architectural triumph anchored by a dramatic prow wall of Pella windows with Sun Defense Glass™ that delivers a breathtaking panoramic view of the surrounding mountain landscape and fills the interior with a quality of natural light that transforms every hour of the day into something genuinely beautiful. Authentic hand-hewn timber trusses of outstanding craftsmanship designate the great room and dining areas with a sophistication rarely achieved in rustic log cabin home design, while reclaimed barn board flooring with square dowel accents and variable plank widths grounds the entire main floor in a depth of character and authenticity that is simply without equal. The gourmet kitchen is a showpiece of thoughtful design, featuring double stacked cabinetry, a professional double oven range with pot filler, pull out pantry shelving, a raised kitchen island with a dedicated prep surface below, and a stunning range hood that draws the eye upward with the same commanding presence as the fireplace across the room.

The four seasons room is one of the most beloved features of this plan, a gathering space of extraordinary warmth and intimacy with full log construction walls, a fireplace, and panoramic views that tell the story of a home where no one ever wants to leave. The first-floor primary bedroom suite is a private sanctuary of genuine grandeur of soaring volume, a walk-in closet of exceptional scale, a private laundry suite, a soaking tub with mountain views, leathered granite vanity tops, back lit mirrors, and a beautifully appointed walk-in shower of outstanding tile work. A dedicated mudroom with a dog wash station with integrated soap, a sink, and custom bench seating, a guest bedroom suite with a loft above accessed by ladder, and a three-stall garage carrying the footprint of three and a half stalls plus a dedicated workshop complete the main level with a breadth of practical luxury that is truly remarkable.

The Smoky Mountain is available in two versions, nearly 3,000 square feet without the lower level, or an expansive footprint close to 5,000 square feet with the optional walkout basement, a fully realized entertainment level featuring 11 foot ceilings, a pool table area with vintage theater seating, a kitchenette, a cozy family room with stone fireplace and 8x8 timber accents, a dedicated hot tub spa, a wraparound covered patio, a grilling station, and two additional bedrooms with king size beds. With 2 bedrooms to 4 bedrooms and 2 to 3 bathrooms depending on configuration, and a luxury mountain home presence that commands admiration from every angle of the property, the Smoky Mountain is among the most inspiring and deeply personal dream home floor plans Golden Eagle Log and Timber Homes has ever offered, and an extraordinary place to build your forever home in the timeless tradition of full log craftsmanship.

Smoky Mountain Floor Plan FAQs

The Smoky Mountain floor plan is great. But, I'd like more bedrooms. Can a second floor or a loft level be added to the Smoky Mountain floor plan?.
Definitely! On most floor plans it is extremely easy to add a second floor or a loft. Note, The main floor floor plan may have to be altered a little bit to add space for a stairway. Note, Second floors or lofts are an extremely easy way to add square footage to home without adding a tremendous amount of cost. Because, the roof structure would remain virtually the same, you're just adding walls.

Can I make changes or customize the Smoky Mountain floor plan to add some features that I would like?
This is where we excel... All of our plans can be modified to meet your design goals. Every log and timber home we sell is custom tailored to your specific wants and needs. In fact, you could give us a hand drawn floor plan and we can engineer the plan specifically for you. Plans on our website are just starting points. Every home we sell ends up being a custom home.

What Construction Styles are available for the Smoky Mountain floor plan.
The Smoky Mountain floor plan above is shown as a Traditional Log Home Package (square timbers, full/round-log, half/round-log, and more). However, we can also offer this plan as any of the following construction types (also referred to as packages):

I like this floor plan. However, I would like it flipped the other way around. Can it be flipped?
Absolutely! All of our floor plans are able to be flipped or rotated in any orientation to match the property, sun exposure, and your personal preferences.

Can I remove the attached garage from this plan?
Certainly! We can easily remove the attached garage from the Smoky Mountain floor plan. (It may reduce the cost of the home as well.)

I am building on a slab. Can I remove the basement that is shown above?
Yes. Nearly any of our homes can be built on a slab. There are a few things to keep in mind. When you remove a basement we will have to find a place on the first floor to add your utilities like furnace, electrical panel, and hot water heater.
